Male sexual dysfunction, denoting the inability to achieve a satisfactory sexual relationship, may involve inadequacy of erection or problem with emission, ejaculation, or orgasm. The physiologic mechanism of erection of the penis involves release of nitric oxide (NO) in the corpus cavernosum during sexual stimulation. NO then activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase, which resulta in increased leves of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (c GMP), producing smooth muscle relaxation in the corpus cavernomus and allowing inflow of blood. Some of the active ingredients of Aphrodit herbal drop such as: Saponin and cinnamaldehyde both dilate the arteries especially the coronary and penis arteries (5). The latter effect promotes the erection and pvercomes the erectile impotence. Also, it is possible that the active ingredients of Aphrodite increase the c GMP levels and thus promoting the relaxation of corpus cavernosu. In clinical studies, saponins from tribulus terrestris has shown its positive effect on the ability of men with erectile dysfunction to engage in sexual activity and in many cases specifically on the ability to achive and maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual activity(6). The effectiveness of Aphrodit has been evaluated using a sexual function questionnaire. Tow of the questions from the questionnaire were : 1- The ability to achieve erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. 2- the maintenance of erections after penetration. The results of clinical trials showed that Aphrodit is able to improve the patients erection in some 80% of the patients with erectile dysfunction. From clinical trails it is concluded that Aphrodit is also able to increase the sperm count and its motility. It is intresting to know that saponins from Tribulus terrestris incrcase FSH production in human (6,7), wich increase the sperm production. The gametogenic function of the testes is controlles largely by the secretion of FSH by the pituitary (8). Saponin bind with hypothalamic oestrogen receptors, which are part of the negative feedback mechanism of oestrogen control and increase the FSH production (9).
